Three Teams Progress to Next Stage of Barcelona App Challenge
On 23 January and 5 March 2016 ECIM organized two hackathons in Barcelona as part of ECIM Barcelona App Challenge.
Students from Ramon Llull University and Polytechnic University of Catalonia, together with independent professionals, broke out into teams to compete for a place in the final phase of the App Challenge that is due to take place in May this year.
Focusing on Near Field Communication technology, one of the winning teams proposed a solution for smartphones that can be used to buy tickets for public transport and display city’s mobility services.
Another team proposed an app for trade fair visitors to get around the city based on their needs and interests.
The prototype of the third team is practically an open data-based communication tool aimed at notifying users about traffic accidents in a city.
The winning teams got a €1000 cash prize each and have now entered the second phase of the App Challenge whose winner will receive another cash prize worth € 3500 and access to the co-working space at ESADE’s Entrepreneurial Institute for the duration of four months.
