ECIM charm offensive towards developers continues in Brussels

October 30th, 2015

On 28 October 2015 Brussels Regional Informatics Centre (BRIC) organized a one-day hackathon for developers interested in GIS tools (OSGeo-Live products), Government Open Data and mobility services such as those published on the ECIM platform. Around 25 people used the aforementioned resources to build innovative applications centered on topics related to tourism, parking, playgrounds and enabling technologies. The group that won the app challenge was the one that created a service for persons with reduced mobility. “It’s great to see technology and data being used to address real human needs,” said one of the participants. “We need more events like this to deliver tangible benefits to our society.”
